Cosmetic Dentistry Q & A

Volterra Dental offers a variety of cosmetic treatments to improve your smile:

  • Invisalign: Invisalign® is a teeth-straightening method that involves a series of custom-made, near-invisible plastic aligner trays that fit over your teeth. The removable trays gently straighten and shift your teeth into alignment. Invisalign acts like braces, but the process is more comfortable and discrete.
  • Teeth Whitening: Professional teeth whitening at the Volterra Dental office can yield impressive results and is more effective than do-it-yourself methods because of a higher concentration of bleaching chemicals and the skill of a dental professional. The Volterra Dental group also provides the Zoom!® laser — an in-office teeth whitening procedure combining laser energy with hydrogen peroxide gel that can transform your teeth up to eight shades whiter.
  • Dental Implants: Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that securely hold your dental prosthesis, such as dentures or crowns, in place. The implant is surgically attached to your jaw bone.
  • Veneers: Volterra Dental offers quality veneers — thin porcelain sheets that cover the front surface of your tooth. Veneers work well for teeth that are stained or chipped.
  • Bridges: A bridge can replace a missing tooth or teeth. It works by bridging the gap between the teeth using a row of crowns that are connected together.
  • Crowns: Your dentist places dental crowns, or caps, on top of discolored, broken, or chipped teeth.

There are other cosmetic dentistry options available that your Volterra dentist can discuss with you at your consultation.

You might need cosmetic dentistry to restore the appearance of your smile. Cosmetic dentistry procedures also have practical benefits and can help with functionality, such as eating and chewing.

You might want cosmetic dentistry to:

  • Replace missing teeth
  • Restore broken or chipped teeth
  • Cover discolored or stained teeth
  • Realign and reshape misshapen or misaligned teeth

General dentistry covers routine checkups, dental cleanings, and other functional and pathological factors. Cosmetic dentistry is centered on the look of your smile and helping you achieve your desired look.

Cosmetic dentistry requires additional training and knowledge of the wide array of procedures. The training delves into the intricacies and technicalities of each procedure in great detail.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain Veneers are crowns, sometimes also called facial crowns, that are applied to teeth that need an aesthetic result.

Veneers are recommended if a patient comes in wanting a ‘Hollywood smile’ or some other improvements to their smile.

What are the other dental issues veneers can fix?

Porcelain veneers can fix rotating teeth, gaps in your teeth, improve the color/shape of teeth, etc.

What is the process of getting veneers done?

After a consultation with the doctor, we will go through shape, size, color and introduce them to the process of having a veneer case done.

Impressions will be taken and sent to the lab. The lab will then fabricate in mock-up what we expect the smile to look like as far as the anticipated results.

Feel free to give us a call and get the beautiful smile you always wanted.
